    Join leaders from senior serving organizations from around South Carolina for the 2023 SCACAD Retreat and Conference October 15-18, 2023 at the Marina Inn Grande Dunes, Myrtle Beach. The conference offers a full agenda of presentations by experts in the field, networking with other organization leaders, and updates on programs and initiatives that are advancing older adult services in our state.   • Senior Activity Training Expo
    Learn about fun and engaging activities and game experiences delivered in senior centers at the SCACAD Activity Expo on Friday, September 15, 2023 from 11:00am – 2:00pm. This participant-involved workshop will exhibit activities that have increased senior center attendance since reopening after the COVID-19 pandemic.   • 2022 SCACAD Award Winners
    October 17, 2022 Every day, senior centers and group dining sites across South Carolina offer an exciting array of programs for older adults. This year, SCACAD honored and promoted these outstanding efforts with a special recognition ceremony at its annual retreat and training conference. These winners represent a small portion of the great programs and services available for seniors in every county in South Carolina through a local Council on Aging service provider.   • 2022 SCACAD Training Retreat
    October 14, 2022 South Carolina Council on Aging Directors held its first post-pandemic, in-person retreat to learn, share, and build upon successful senior services across the state. The retreat, held in Clemson, South Carolina, renewed the annual event which shapes senior service across the state. Local providers from counties in every region attended to learn from each other as well as Clemson University Institute for Engaged Aging, South Carolina Department on Aging, United Way of Anderson County, and special presentations from retreat sponsors Palmetto Bus Sales and Centene.   • Emergency Senior Nutrition Program
    July 1, 2020 When the first wave of COVID-19 hit South Carolina, SCACAD members immediately began to see increased calls for senior meal services as seniors began to self-isolate, stay-at-home orders limited mobility, and shut-downs closed access to community resources.  In response, a coalition of 16 members developed the Emergency Senior Nutrition Program to distribute packs of drive-thru meals sourced from a local caterer to any senior in need.
